In a quiet city park at the beginning of an ordinary morning, a mild-mannered man named Elias is marked twice by a passing bird, and in the company of an old gardener, a warm cup of tea, and a great patient plane tree, he discovers that the small indignities of a life are not obstacles to peace but invitations to it: softened, as such teachings always are, by laughter.
