The Hare Who Heard the Sky Fall

In a mountain valley of cedar and bamboo below a small temple, a startled hare mistakes a falling fruit for the breaking of the world, and his fear runs through the whole forest until a great tawny shishi lion asks one unhurried question and walks the frightened animals back, step by step, to the small hollow in the leaf mould where the thought began.
