The Wind, the Clouds, and the Snow
On a windless winter morning high on the loess hills of northern China, the clouds doubt that snow is of any use, and the wind boasts of its own strength, until an old snowfall lying over the winter wheat explains, without hurry, what each of them is quietly for. A gentle fable about the different gifts of different beings, and the harmony that comes from understanding rather than comparison.
Retold from Chinese Fables and Folk Stories, by Mary Hayes Davis and Chow-Leung.
